Thanks Karl. You're right, I got the date wrong. I saw Elvis perform in October of 1976. I corrected the date.

So why is it that you left the Church? From my experience, most former Catholics have a "public" reason they give to others for leaving the church and a "hidden" reason which is in fact the "real" reason (usually having to do with a refusal to follow the Church's position on divorce, birth control, or some other teaching of the Church).

One more question: Is (was) your mother devoted to the Blessed Virgin Mary?

Take care,
Harry

Not to mess with your head or anything but "The King" died in August of 1977. You likely saw him in October 1976. He was also 42 when he died having been born in January 1935, if I recall correctly.

However the real Man of Rock and Roll was Buddy Holly. We lost him on February 3, 1959 along with Ritchie Valens and the Big Bopper, as well as pilot Roger Peterson.

Pray for the Church my friend it is as wounded as we are. Pray also for me, my friend, as I am a former Catholic who loves the Church.

Doo Wop, there is just nothing like it. To hear Dion and the Belmonts sing....That's My Desire or No One Knows or even to listen to The Chimes sing...Once in Awhile or the Five Satins sing.....Closer to the Aisle....is to live.

But to hear.... Holy God We Praise Thy Name, Lord Accept the Gifts We Offer or to hear a priest sing the real oldie, "The Kyrie", as it was sung during the old Tridentine Latin Mass that I served at in the early 60's as an Altar BOy ...is to be close to heaven.

BTW, I liked your post. Cherish your wife and your family. Live your life to make sure she gets into heaven and your children join you later at a time to be announced by the BIG GUY.

The Lord be with you(Dominus Vobiscum)!
